Terms of Service
These terms cover goldfindr.app — the free map, the $5 area reports, and the membership. By using the site or buying anything here, you're agreeing to them. We've written them in plain English on purpose; the plain English is the meaning.
1. What Goldfindr is — and isn't
Goldfindr is an informational and educational product. We collect public records — USGS mineral occurrence data, BLM mining-claim and land-status records, hydrology, geology, roads — and present them together with our interpretation of what they suggest. That interpretation, including the AI-generated reads in our reports (which are labeled as such), is automated analysis of public data. It is not professional geological, legal, or financial advice, and it is not a promise that gold is present anywhere. Nobody can promise that.
2. The data is historical and best-effort — verify before you dig
This is the paragraph that matters most. The federal mineral-occurrence dataset (USGS MRDS) is historical and no longer updated. Claim, land-ownership, and road layers come from third-party government feeds that lag, contain errors, and are approximate. Before you prospect any ground, you must verify the claim status and land ownership yourself — with BLM MLRS and the county recorder — and confirm you have legal access. A map tint or hatch on Goldfindr is a starting point for your homework, never permission. Prospecting on claimed or private ground without permission is your responsibility, not ours.
3. Safety
Prospecting means backcountry terrain, weather, water, old mine workings, and roads whose condition we cannot verify. A road or route appearing on our maps is not a statement that it's open, passable, or safe. You go at your own risk; know your limits, carry what you need, and never enter old mine workings.
4. The $5 area report
A one-time purchase: an instant report for the spot or area you chose, plus a 7-day full-map pass. Because it's delivered instantly and made for your specific spot, refunds are at our discretion — write to us within 7 days at tim@goldfindr.app and we'll be reasonable.
5. Membership
- Plans: $10/month, $50/6 months, or $90/year.
- Free trial: your first 7 days are free. We collect a card up front; it is not charged until the trial ends. If you cancel before the trial ends, you pay nothing.
- Auto-renewal: plans renew automatically until you cancel.
- Cancel anytime, self-serve: open the map → the member button → "manage" takes you to your billing portal. Two clicks, no phone calls. Cancellation stops future billing; you keep access through the period you've paid for. Partial periods aren't refunded.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
6. Fair use
Memberships and reports are for your personal prospecting use. Don't resell our reports or reads, scrape the site, or hammer our endpoints. We can suspend accounts that abuse the service, with a refund of any unused paid period if we do.
7. No warranties; limit of liability
The service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent the law allows, VentureOS LLC's total liability for any claim arising out of the service is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — including any outcome of a prospecting trip. You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your misuse of the service or violation of these terms (including trespass).
8. Housekeeping
These terms are governed by the law of the state where VentureOS LLC is organized. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest stands. We may update these terms; material changes will be posted here with a new effective date, and continued use is acceptance. Our Privacy Policy is part of these terms.
